1. Patient access to safe and effective healthcare must be enhanced through new models of care and services that enable pharmacist independent prescribers to routinely use their skills and knowledge in practice. Being an independent prescriber means that you can prescribe a medicine without needing to consult another prescriber first. Pharmacists cannot prescribe on registration but must take an additional course of education and training before they can prescribe. Courses are part-time and are run by universities.

We are seeking a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber that will join a new team, you will need to be an excellent communicator, you’ll have the ability to develop support packages that are creative, flexible and tailored to the needs of each individual. The course is specifically designed to meet the needs of pharmacist prescribers working in medicines optimisation, GP practice, Urgent and Emergency Care and provision of NHS 111 services and care homes. The UCL CEPIP course has been developed from the outset as an integrated clinically enhanced pharmacist independent prescribing course. The Pharmacist training as an Independent Prescriber is required to accrue 90 hours of “Clinical Attendance” time over the period of the 7-month course. This time must be purposefully planned and consist of activities relevant to the development of the Pharmacist.
